What we can do with InPost

Actually, that’s enough to deliver packages and control orders. We started working with InPost at the beginning of our Shopify journey. Here in Poland, it seems to be the primary delivery method for many customers. Supporting InPost became a priority when their official app proved insufficient for our needs.

We started with simple package tracking:

Active shipments

This helps us understand where a package is currently located, when to expect delivery, and ultimately how happy the customer is likely to be.

Sometimes it also helps us identify interesting cases in the InPost system, such as a courier delivering a package to a logistic center after it has already been collected by the customer. We have no idea why that happens or what exactly is being delivered.

Knowing when a package was delivered helps us to measure customer’s satisfaction and provides us analytics we calls “Delivery to repeat purchase time”. This helps us better understand how fulfillment and time affect repeat purchases.

Tracking is not the main feature we provide. We also support data from two InPost related apps for selecting delivery location:

This allows us to export orders to CSV and upload them to InPost Manager:

Export InPost

Here, you can configure the locker size for a package and download a CSV file for InPost Manager. We also provide settings that allow you to change default values when different locker sizes need to be selected based on the items in the package. Here’s how it looks:

We discovered that the official application does not always work correctly, so we added another feature that can be accessed from the Orders page by clicking the Import InPost Fulfill button. It accepts a CSV file exported from InPost Manager and links all tracking numbers to existing fulfillments.

Import InPost

By default, we do not notify customers when a tracking number is linked.

At one point, our solution made it possible to operate efficiently on the Shopify Basic plan. Today, it also helps us avoid fulfillment errors and mistakes. The only remaining issue is placing a fulfillment label on the wrong package.

But Panelque can’t help with that. Yet.
